Herriman's rapid expansion has produced thousands of nearly identical homes — and unfortunately some predictable security weak spots. Here's a self-audit you can do this weekend.
Check for: Grade 1 deadbolt, 3-inch screw strike plate, peephole or doorbell camera, working motion light.
Check for: secured garage-to-house door (treat it like exterior), no cable or rope hanging from emergency-release, locked side door if present.
Check for: secondary lock on sliding doors, anti-lift device on slider tracks, tall fence with secure gate latch, no easily-moved climbing aids near windows.
Check for: working window locks on all accessible openings, basement window wells with covers and security bars where appropriate.
